Digital ledgers are multiscale information. Geospatial. Celestial. On ledgers, too, we are points on a vast circuit. Zoom in, you see structure. Zoom out, texture at a different scale.
Geospatial and celestial systems interact through physical laws. Digital ledgers, by contrast, compute. What you see at scale is like a vast computing system, a mass circuit. Once you transact, you are a point, a switch, a transistor. Once in relief, the ledger forces us to think in these terms.
12 1/1s. "Curious Circuits" represents thousands of transactions simply as angled lines, colors, markers. Addresses are (x,y) positions. But once projected in aggregate, these transactions form something that blends our intuitions of organic evolution and cold circuitry across vast systems.
Three series. First, "Series 1" visualizes the circuitry of the first million blocks on Ethereum. Drawing from raw transaction data, lines and colors and markers indicate the clustering, growing activity.
The second series shows pointed moments of the maturing sociotechnical space. Obfuscation. Hacks. Hope. Mania.
Final 4 1/1s "Curious Circuits" now complete. This final series shows expansion of the circuit: layer into layer, into new places, but still stitched into a single but more complex growing circuit. Blue, L2. Green, L1.
Crops intentional, it yields a tension. The system scales, grows. It cannot be contained in frame. We focus.
Pieces include a 7,500 x 7,500 JPEG ~15MB, full media on Arweave. First collectors receive an interactive interface allowing the owner to explore the early ecosystem's circuitry.
The interface grants access to links to focal addresses, an SVG download of the circuitry, and an animation mode that allows the viewer to explore the circuitry in a more dynamic way.
More detail on the collector's site here.
Pieces reserved for prior collectors of the other series including blocknoob DΞMar.eth CypherDAO John of ARQ and 0xbunkichi .⌐◨-◨.
Thank you everyone. FIN.
